Lakota Instructions for Living Passed Down from White Buffalo Calf Woman:
Friend do it this way—that is, whatever you do in life, do the very best you can with both your heart and mind.
And if you do it that way, the Power of the Universe will come to your assistance, if your heart and mind are in Unity.
When one sits in the Hoop of The People, one must be responsible because All of Creation is related.
And the hurt of one is the hurt of all. And the honor of one is the honor of all. And whatever we do affects everything in the Universe.
If you do it that way—that is if you truly join your heart and mind as One—whatever you ask for, that’s the Way It’s Going to Be.
“I felt tingling and rushes of energy in my body. Then warm flowing sensations. I could sense that stuck energy was now flowing.” This is one of my journal entries during the time that I was the focal point for a Power of 8 group. My intention was to heal from a rare lung infection which Western medicine treats symptomatically. The infection is now gone. Other members of the group shared many moments of wellbeing in their own lives during the period we were meeting.
Since the Power of 8 workshop that I presented in 2017 to our local IONS group here in LA, I have been in many Power of 8 groups. These are groups of people who come together to align with the vision or intention of one person in the group, holding that intention, as accomplished, every day for a select number of minutes, in an actual or virtual circle of support.
The underlying premise is that we are all connected in a field of energy that is a “quantum soup.” When we direct energy through our intention, feelings and visualizations, energy responds. And this is magnified exponentially where “two or more are gathered.”
Collective healing groups are springing up everywhere these days as we face rising trauma and fear in the wake of COVID 19. 2020 seems to be ushering in our embodied awareness of our deep interconnection with each other and all of life. Global heart coherence can really change the world.
It is one thing to talk about Unity consciousness. It is another to really be present in our bodies and hearts to all aspects of ourselves and each other. The dark and uncomfortable parts as well as the parts we easily embrace and love.
Some of the most powerful tools for me have been:
Connecting with my breath and scanning my body, emotions and mind, through the breath
Consciously grounding to the Earth, perhaps with imagined roots, feeling the soles of my feet and with breath
Observing my thoughts, feelings and sensations with neutral acceptance
Allowing everything that arises to be, without acting on it or giving it reign to take over--as if you are a loving parent to a large number of children in all sorts of moods
Dropping resistance to feelings that arise so that they can flow through me as energy--expressing them appropriately if I need to
How are you present to all of yourself? How does that deepen your relationship with others?
